Sun on wintry scene

Thankfully, the water board and the housing trust have come up trumps. We now have our water supply back due to the hard work of the workmen involved.

Many thanks to all those who've helped to resolve our issues this Christmas week in extremely difficult circumstances. Much appreciated.

Two bottles of water for five people

We haven't had any water since early yesterday morning. The water board says it's not their responsibility. After a number of calls, the housing trust is finally sending round a plumber. In the meantime, for all our needs (a family of five) they've given us two 1.5 litre bottles of branded water. My wife thought it was a joke. No one's laughing.

Hoole in the evening

The Hoole shops are beautifully lit up at the moment, though this photo doesn't do them justice. Visit them if you can. Friendly welcomes all round.

Dusk (II)

A cold but sunny afternoon. We've bought a couple of advent calendars and a sad card offering condolences.

Now we're on the way back home.

Waiting at Chester Station

A long week. Now waiting for our son to arrive back from uni. Good to sit awhile in peace and quiet.

Next week will be quite different I'm sure.

Christmas in black and white

Lovely sunny day in Chester at the moment. Not too many people. Leisurely walk makes a nice break from work.

The weir

Trees near the River Dee

A lovely afternoon in Chester. Cold but sunny. A bright blue sky.

The sound of the Dee near the weir beckons me.

Workshy? Not at all. Time-poor to enjoy the simple pleasures in life is how I would describe my current state.

Blue sky

A Christmas village in the heart of Chester

A sight for sore eyes. A beautiful idea - even as the miseries of Coalition cuts begin to become plain. For a few moments, this place makes you forget what it is to be an adult and reminds you of the wonders of childhood again.

Sunrise on cold winter's morning

Yes, you're right of course. Not winter yet. But it feels that way. I'm in hibernation mode already.

Snowy hill and clouds

Wish I could paint

Went to the National Gallery of Scotland today. There's a Scottish section with some beautiful paintings.

On my journey back from Edinburgh I can see what inspired the Scottish painters to illustrate their nation with so much pride.
